About

The Workshop

Love Is A Losing Flame is a small candle workshop in Portland, Oregon. Each candle is hand-poured in batches that fit comfortably on a single counter — small enough that we can stand over them as they cool, large enough that we’re always making something.

The name comes from an Amy Winehouse line. The work is shaped by that lineage of soul and jazz: warm, a little smoky, slightly literary, never in a hurry. We’re not a startup. There are no investors and no quarterly OKRs. There’s a workbench, a wax melter, a record on, and a list of people waiting for the next batch.

The long plan involves a cabin outside the city, a row of beehives, and our own honey wax — the kind of slow, useful work you can’t rush. Until then, soy and beeswax sourced from small apiaries we trust, and a little patience between drops.
